Dear Friends,
As we come close to the end of the term in the IIID, we are looking at a very relevant theme – Old v/s New! If places like museums lead us to contemplate over the past, and remind us of past cultures, civilizations and heritage; pubs, bars, and lounges are modern spaces that are in sync with the contemporary lifestyles and they help to ease out the stress of week after grueling week of work!
The Cover Story has a technically informative article on the design considerations for a museum; as well as five of the world’s most stunning and path-breaking museums. Ar. Alex Jacob, the IIID Bangalore Chapter Chairman, has done an array of amazing pub-bar-lounge projects that are featured in the Indian Insite segment this time.
Other good features include an article on prefabricated homes - RES4 PREFABS by a New York-based architectural firm, a technical article on Lighting from PLDA, and others.
At the IIID, we come to the end of the term (2008-2010) for all the Chapters and Centres. It was indeed an eventful year for all of us. The chairpersons and their committee members were all committed and sincere; and each Chapter / Centre hosted some very significant and interesting events; that benefitted the local design fraternity. The election season is now on, and we will see new committees being appointed all around. I wish all those who are finishing their terms, the very best for their future, and hope to see them continue to play active roles in the IIID.
Warm Regards,
