Dear Fellow Members,
As I start to pen this message for the month of August 2012, the election for the Managing Committee of Chapters/Centres for the 2012–2014 term must be in its final stage. As you receive this issue of Insite, a new leadership must have taken the reins at Chapters/Centres, infusing new ideas, new enthusiasm, new innovative programmes and, above all, new energy, leading to a dynamic approach. On behalf of the Executive Committee (2010–2012), I extend my compliments and best wishes to the newly installed Managing Committee of all Chapters/Centres for the 2012–2014 term.
At times I wonder why a leader receives such applause. Perhaps because of his ability and, more significantly, because of teamwork. Friends, life is an interdependent reality and that is why God created Adam and Eve together. Life, after all, could not have been perpetuated with only one of them. Similarly, all productive activities call for well-synchronised teamwork, be it our body, our family, a computer or a giant organisation. Be it our personal life or professional life, how far and how fast we will move depends on how big, well–built, well-knit, well-tuned and well-synchronised our teams are in both these areas. Research says that even migratory birds fly together because that way they cover 70 per cent more distance with the same energy consumption than they would do individually. Meaning effective teamwork can lend a multiplier effect to our efforts. Nature is the most powerful example of effective teamwork. The team of five fundamental elements, Panch Mahabhuta, functions amazingly, effectively and in tune. Therefore, it is powerfully productive and enchantingly beautiful.
The Chairman and Managing Committee members have to function as one big team. The theme for the 2010-2012 term was “Connect and Spread”. We together, we as a team and we as a family have to usher our way to achieve the aims and objectives of our Institution. With new leader Ar. Nitin Saolapurkar set to take over in October 2012 as IIID National President, I appeal to you to support him. The future of the Institute will not be shaped at IIID H.O. in Mumbai only – it will be shaped in and by each and every Chapter and Centre. Because it is for each of us – as members – to do what is necessary to keep IIID strong. Because it is our daily actions, and our daily decisions, that determine the course of IIID for all of us.
In conclusion, I would like to quote William Shakespeare and his three sentences for getting success:
a) Know more than others
b) Work more than others but
c) Expect less than others
With regards to my IIID family,
Ar. Bankim Dave
