Dear Fellow IIIDians,

Festivals are an integral and unique part of our culture, and Diwali is a major one among them. The celebrations start much before the onset of the festival and continue till much after. Hope you had a great Diwali, and it really feels like the New Year — so here’s wishing all of you a very happy and a prosperous New Year!

At IIID, we are preparing to celebrate design through IIID ANCHOR Awards 2012, which is really no less than a festival of national proportions. The invitation to participate is already published, and I am sure would have reached you through your Chapter/Centre chairperson. I personally appeal to you to participate in the awards by sending in your best design entries and also persuade other designers like you, whose work you know as worthy of showcasing good design! It is our endeavour to take design to the masses and IIID Anchor Awards is the best medium to do so. Let us make this confluence of society, media and good design a great success!

Post Diwali, the celebrations at IIID are set to continue....at Pune Chapter, which completes 25 successful years of its inception. Pune has had many firsts, the Design Centre being one such. I congratulate every member of the IIID Pune Chapter for reaching the silver milestone (again, the first one!) and wish them the very best for racing towards a Golden Jubilee!

The 40 long years of IIID and its rich and worthy history are a story of the enthusiasm, the struggles and joys, and the memorable events leading to the growth of IIID. All due to the glorious people who made it all happen with their efforts and drive. To commemorate and pay tribute to this long journey, I am thrilled to share with you the launch of the IIID ARCHIVES Project, which would enlighten and take every one of us through this journey.

We are attempting to collect the pieces of history of IIID and to weave together an epic. I invite you to share your experiences, anecdotes and episodes that you know and would help add value to this project. Please share the “slice of history” as you have experienced in the journey of IIID with us, by sending in rare pictures, letters and experiences to our head office to Mr. Kashikar.

Let us celebrate IIID...let us create history. Let us continue to DEDICATE ourselves to the cause of IIID, CREATING opportunities, INNOVATING and ACHIEVING the aims we set.

With best wishes.

Hoping to hear from you. I thank you, in anticipation.
