Dear Members of the IIID Family
I am so happy to write this page in this month because of several reasons. The month of April started with
the most spectacular event by IIID Bengaluru “DESIGN URU” the design festival. It made all of us proud and
especially me,forleading such a spirited team. We all were amazed by the excitement, public participation
and also by the mileage,IIID got inmedia. Hats-off to Team Bengaluru and especially the Chairperson - Ms.
Gayathri Shetty, for a path-breaking event. It was,in the real sense, taking Design to the Masses.
The other reason to be more than happy is the DESIGN YATRA, which has begun successfully. It is in
true sense, History in the Making for IIID. Actually, touching the end user’s hearts and sensitizing the
general public about Design. Mumbai,Thane,Nashik, Surat and Bharuch - all have set the standards
veryhigh for other chapters, where the DESIGN YATRA will be visiting in the coming days. As I am
writing this page,Vadodra is going great guns for the preparation withalot of public participation and
events for students &professionals, government authorities and media, lined-up !
Every chapter / centre hasacommon minimum program for the DESIGN YATRA. All those cities, where
it has already travelled, must have certainly experienced these events and must have read the media
coverage and would be feeling proud to be a member of this vibrant organization. I request you to suggest
or take-up some project, which will make a difference to the lives of public at large, in rural areas or in
cities, andfor all those, who feel that design is not for them. Get this feeling induced in everybody’s minds
that “Design is For All” ! Every individual has the right to a better andcomfortable lifestyle, while taking
care of his health and safety. We plan topublish all such projects in the times to come. It ishightime and
IIID is giving you an opportunity to give something back to the society. Do not wait for the DESIGN
YATRA to come or even if it has passed, contribute to the projects, IIID is undertaking.
I feel satisfied for beingable to lead this team and also would like to appreciate the basic thought, which
came from our Hon. Secretary - Jabeen. Thank you so much Jabeen, for thisnoble idea. It has driven each
one of us in this Dream Team,to focus and actually take thethought to realization.
Our Delhi Chapter added two more feathers to IIID’s cap by conferring IIID Honorary Membership to the
doyens in the field of art, architecture and interior design - Padma BhushanRajeev Sethi and Aman Nath.
Sirs, it is an honor to have you both, as a part ofthe IIID family. Thank you, Ms. Tanuja Kanvinde and Ms.
RadhikaVishwanathan for this initiative.
Aren’t you all feeling proud to be a member of this organization ? It is our objective and mission to make
each one of you, a proud member of IIID. Be a part of this history in the making and take pride in being
a member of IIID.
Creating a better world requires team work, partnerships and collaboration. We certainly would need an
entire army of members, working together to build a better world.
Pratap Jadhav, President – IIID
